Description

This easy no knead bread recipe is soft, fluffy, and made without eggs or butter—perfect for beginners! Just 5 ingredients and no kneading required. Ideal for toast, sandwiches, or enjoying warm with jam, this vegan-friendly loaf is simple, budget-friendly, and always a hit.


Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups (440g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 1/2 cups (360ml) warm water

  • 2 teaspoons sugar

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) instant yeast


Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast:
    In a large bowl, stir together warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Mix the Dough:
    Add flour and salt to the bowl. Stir with a wooden spoon until a sticky dough forms—no kneading required.

  3. First Rise (1 Hour):
    Cover the bowl with a towel or plastic wrap. Let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  4. Second Rise (30 Minutes):
    Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan. Pour dough into the pan and smooth the top. Let rise for another 30 minutes.

  5. Bake:
    Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.

  6. Cool & Slice:
    Let bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Cool fully before slicing.

Notes

  • Use whole wheat flour for a heartier loaf (replace up to 1½ cups).

  • Add herbs, garlic, or seeds for custom flavors.

  • Freezes well: slice and store with parchment between slices.
